We also operate a guaranteed teacher-match policy: if the first pairing does not work, we find another teacher rather than asking you to leave. We teach at two Toronto locations, St. Clair West / Wychwood and Lawrence Park, offering scheduling flexibility. RCM exam preparation is available for students who want it, but recreational learners make up a large part of our student body and receive exactly the same standard of instruction.

Private guitar begins at age 5. Lessons at that age are 30 minutes and focus on physical orientation: how to hold the guitar, where fingers go, and simple picking exercises. Classical guitar with a footstool supports correct posture from the start. By age 7 or 8, most students can manage basic chord shapes and play simple songs from beginner books including Alfred Basic Guitar.

Yes. We rent and sell guitars in sizes appropriate for children, including 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 sized instruments. Rentals include basic setup and maintenance guidance so your child is not trying to learn on an instrument that buzzes or is too stiff to play. This matters more for younger students than people expect: an ill-fitted guitar is one of the most common reasons children stop practising. Your teacher can advise on sizing at the trial lesson.

Adult beginners are a regular part of our student body and have been since the school opened. Adults typically choose 45-minute lessons to cover more ground per session, and many prefer an acoustic steel-string guitar for folk and pop styles or a classical guitar if they want to read notation from the start. A few adult students work toward RCM examinations, but most simply want to play songs they enjoy, and our teachers build the lesson plan around that.

The school provides up to two guaranteed make-up lessons per teaching year for student absences, where notice is given in advance. Make-up lessons are scheduled based on teacher availability within the same season. The policy does not cover last-minute cancellations, so flag conflicts as soon as they arise.
