Music Together® classes in Castlemore
ABC Academy of Music offers Music Together® classes in Castlemore, a north Brampton community in Peel Region, taught from our Brampton studio. We have been an authorized Music Together center since 2003. Classes are available for families with children from birth to age five; a caregiver attends every session alongside their child. What happens in a Music Together class
A typical 45-minute session at our Brampton studio moves through hello songs, body percussion, rhythm instrument exploration, movement sequences, and lullabies. The format sounds simple. What makes it effective is repetition across the 10-week season.
Each season’s collection of songs is heard week after week. In the first few sessions, your child listens. By the middle of the season, they start to anticipate the next phrase. By the final weeks, they are filling in words, rhythms, and movements on their own. That progression, hearing the same material enough times to internalize it rather than just recognize it, is how children build genuine musical intuition. A single drop-in visit skips the accumulation that makes the learning stick.
Caregivers attend every class, not as observers but as full participants. The Music Together model is explicit about this: a caregiver who sings, claps, and moves through the material gives the child a live model to study. Engaged caregivers are fuel to the fire; distracted ones, even well-meaning ones, are water on the fire. Singing ability does not matter at all. Presence and effort do.

What children at different ages get from Music Together
At six months, a child in a Music Together class absorbs everything without producing much visibly. They are listening to tonalities, tracking movement, and building the internal library they will draw on later. Parents often notice the response at home: a child who calms to a song heard in class, or who startles to recognition when the song starts.
By age three, the same child is moving, experimenting with instruments, and beginning to match pitch. They are not being taught; they are discovering. The class gives them enough material and enough repetition for discoveries to happen naturally.
At age five, children who have attended Music Together classes tend to have a broad rhythmic and tonal vocabulary before they begin formal instruction. That background makes the transition to private lessons noticeably smoother. The age pathway continues with Rhythm Kids classes at select locations for children aged four to seven, then private lessons starting at age five or six, in piano, guitar, singing, and other instruments.
